HISTORY OF THE MOBILE CONES
We, the Wren family, have been producing premium ice cream since 1973. Kenneth Wren owned and operated the K&W Creamy Whip in Lockland, OH with the help of his wife (Louella) and 3 kids. Ken and his son, Keith, then opened The Cone on July 15, 1995. From the beginning, the eye-catching building brought families from the greater Cincinnati area. Keith was inspired by the community’s enthusiasm for The Cone and decided to take it on the road.
He found the first Mobile Cone unit in Louisiana in 2005. Our first event was Saint Max Festival. Over the years, our fleet has grown to 3 Mobile Cone units and a Mini-Mobile. In 2005, we did 10 events and now we do over 200 a season. Our largest event by far is the Riverfest WEBN Fireworks each year, with approximately 500,000 people in attendance and 2 of our Mobile Cone units. Mobile Cone renovations are constantly in the works to maintain our highly efficient, clean, and state-of-the-art units. Although making a quality product is a lot more labor-intensive, we feel the finished product is well worth it. You be the judge!
