HISTORY OF THE MOBILE CONES

The Wren family has been producing premium ice cream since 1973. It all began with Kenneth Wren owning and operating the K&W Creamy Whip in Lockland, OH with the help of his family. Ken and his son, Keith, then opened The Cone on July 15, 1995. The Wrens operated The Cone in West Chester, OH until they sold the store to the amazing Heydt family on February 14, 2025!

Keith Wren will continue to own and operate one of the Mobile Cone units and all of the Hawaiian Shave Ice Units. Mike Heydt will operate the other Mobile Cone unit, with Keith’s guidance until he learns the ropes. Keith and Mike will handle requests together—same request form!

The “first” Mobile Cone unit was purchased in Louisiana in 2005 by Keith and the very first event was Saint Max Festival! Over the years, the fleet has grown to multiple Mobile Cone units and Hawaiian Shave Ice Units. There were 10 events in 2005 and now there are over 200 per season! The Mobile Cone and Shave Ice Units have had the privilege of serving at events with up to 500,000 attendees!

The Mobile Cone units are constantly undergoing renovations to stay highly efficient and state-of-the-art. Jake Power, who has worked for The Cone and Mobile Cone since 2005, handles all of our renovations and additions—including making the Mobile units longer and rebuilding the interiors for increased efficiency!

Although crafting a quality product is more labor-intensive, The Wrens and Heydts believe the end result is well worth it. We proudly serve our famous secret recipe orange creamsicle, natural shave ice flavors that are made in-house, and all of our toppings are premium. Come taste the difference!

HISTORY OF HAWAIIAN FIVE-OH

Hawaiian Five-OH Flavor Company is a family-owned business founded in 1992 by Bob Russell. Starting as a retail store in Lebanon, OH, the company quickly expanded by adding Mobile Shave Ice units to serve customers at popular fairs and festivals.

In 2008, Hawaiian Five-OH became distributors for Flavor Magic products. Later, the Wren family purchased the Flavor Magic company and continued producing the high-quality shave ice and slush flavors that Flavor Magic had perfected.

In 2020, after nearly 30 years of partnership, the Russell family sold Hawaiian Five-OH to the Wren family. This move came full circle, as years earlier, Bob Russell had also helped Keith Wren and his father, Ken, develop the business plan for The Cone, which became a success in West Chester, OH. When the Russell family decided to sell, they knew Hawaiian Five-OH would be in excellent hands with the Wren family.

While the Wren family sold The Cone to the Heydt family on February 14, 2025, Keith Wren continues to own Hawaiian Five-OH Flavor Magic Company. He takes great joy in producing high-quality shave ice, slush, and coffee concentrates for customers across the country. The Heydt family also continues to purchase shave ice and slush flavors for The Cone from Keith. Taking the Hawaiian Five-OH Mobile Shave Ice units, along with his Mobile Ice Cream Cone, to local Cincinnati events continues to be a highlight for Keith!
